I recently completed a degree in English Literature, and have a keen interest in the ways that the arts and sciences can meaningfully interact. In practice, there are often problems in finding common language and mutual understanding, but it seems to me like there is much more unexplored potential. (And often the frustrations are no worse than psychologists and economists trying to discuss decision making under risk, say.) One promising interaction has been the recent Beckett and Brain Science workshop series, to which I made a small contribution.
As part of the degree, I wrote my first full-length play, and subsequently, another play of mine won the Churchill Theatre Bromley short play writing competition, and, with two others, was performed as a rehearsed reading with professional director and cast. I am a founder member of the playwriting collective GRAFT, although things have gone quiet on that front recently.
